Community Day: September 24

Warwick County Park hosts Community Day
Explore “your own backyard”

On Saturday, September 24 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Warwick County Park will be hosting Community Day in partnership with South Coventry, Warwick and East Nantmeal Townships.

Designed as a fun-filled, interactive and educational day, learn, play and explore with over 40 local and non-profit organizations, craft and food vendors, demonstrators, recreational activities, school groups and more. County residents and neighbors will learn much about the various artistic, recreational and not-for-profit associations they may not realize exist “in their own backyard”.

Activities and entertainment planned include pony rides, rock wall, wagon rides, caricatures, face painting, orienteering and kids’ obstacle courses, music, animals and archery. Visit with Smokey Bear and look inside emergency service vehicles.

Demonstrations include martial arts, beekeeping, robotics and bluebird box construction. The Friends of Warwick County Park and Coventry Ice Cream Parlor will provide food concessions.

Community Day will also serve as a drop off location for two local charities. Chester County Pet Pantry’s Animal House Project’s wish list includes pet foods, toys, and accessories, gift cards and coupons to pet stores, first aid and sanitation products, and operating supplies. “In Ian’s Boots” is collecting gently used shoes, winter boots and soccer cleats.

Parking, admission and most activities are free. The event is sponsored by the Chester County Board of Commissioners, Facilities & Parks Department, Friends of Warwick County Park, and South Coventry, Warwick and East Nantmeal Townships.

Warwick County Park, 382 County Park Road, Pottstown, is located four miles west of Route 100 off Route 23 in the village of Knauertown. For additional information, please call 610-469-1916 or visit www.chesco.org/ccparks.
